Hover-text showing Description for Study Tags#418

When I create a study tag, I sometimes leave a note in the Description text box (e.g. “Record this for both arms” Include % for the following variables X, Y and Z”.

It would be really helpful as I’m tagging for these notes to pop up if I hover over the Tag name when I have the PDFs open.

Thanks Dmitry! I definitely understand the need– the Description is helpful at the study design / hierarchy building stage, but could be more informative during the tagging process.

Quick clarification: You’re looking to see the Description when you are about to select a tag from the drop-down? Would it be acceptable to present the description only after the tag is actually selected/opened, while you are filling in/highlighting the tag text?

I mocked up an example of what I was thinking. If I place my cursor over a tag, it shows a little tooltip of the description

This would be tremendously helpful for some tags where we’ve decided a particular order of presenting items, or simply forgot what unit/ other nuances we need to include.

I like the ideas! We need to be careful with information overload, but yea, most of the value of a description/definition is to have it immediately available when extracting data.

We’re just focusing on tagging for the first stab at this. We’ll happily revisit extraction once dual extraction (#72) is complete, but we’d like to keep the extraction UI simpler for now.

Starting with release 1.38.0, the description is made available by hovering the (i) icon to the right of tag selection. The icon will not be displayed when the selected tag does not have a description. Great improvement, thanks for the recommendation!
