Add another email address to my NK account#438

E

Now that accounts aren’t searchable (less convenient but totally understand that security wins out), I’m getting invited to nests under my SME work email, but my NK account is under my personal email. Would be nice to be able to designate some kind of secondary/additional email for an account so invites to that email also go to that account. I imagine that some of our clients with various company/university emails would also appreciate it.

Changing the email attached to an account entirely would also work for me, I’m not attached to having it under my personal email, I just don’t want to go through and transfer all my nests to another account!

Thanks Erin– I totally get the issue of having two accounts that can be pinged/shared to (I run into it myself!). I think the ability to designate multiple email accounts is helpful, but I do want to note that this won’t solve the issue of having multiple accounts.

So, I’d also recommend consolidating accounts ASAP, and we won’t be able to just transfer which accounts are associated with which nests. The best practice is probably to go through and change access privileges in each nest by hand; you only need to do this for nests that are only accessible to the account being senesced, and the earlier you do so, the fewer nests you need to alter… Sorry for the extra work, but we can’t mass-alter access privileges because of security concerns!

Hi Kevin,

Thanks! I actually don’t have two accounts, I just get an invite to create an account with my supedit email when people invite me. So in order to access the invited nest, I’d need to go in and create an account, transfer the nest to my actual account, and delete the supedit account again so it can’t get pinged, which works but gets annoying fast!

Oh my gosh– that is indeed different than I envisioned and not a fun practice. A way to make it easier for you in the meantime (if you are an Admin of the SME Org), is to tell people to just ensure that SME ‘owns’ the nest they are using; if they do that, you will get Admin access automatically and no invite is needed anyway.

I still hear the ‘multi-email’ request and it does look like it would help you out here, but that’s a mitigation and an easier practice for everyone in the meantime!Oh my gosh– that is indeed different than I envisioned and not a fun practice. This is a great idea! @Karl Holub , I only worry about potential confusion, especially around login. People already get confused by having two different accounts with two different emails, now imagine they can add each of those emails to their other accounts, but can only authenticate with the address they first used to create each account…we’d have to do this right.

Thanks for the reminder of that feature with the organization nests, that will definitely make things easier in the meantime! Between invites and accidental Google logins, my supedit account probably looks like a very indecisive user, haha!
