Significance of color of check mark when editing exclusion reasons?#476

When I’m editing the title of the exclusion reason, the check mark to the right hand side (in the pencil icon column) is sometimes red and sometimes blue. When it is red, I think that something is wrong with the exclusion reason. What is the purpose of these color changes?

Also, what do you think about numbering exclusion reasons? Particualry for a nest like this, with 19 exlcusion reasons, it would be more user friendly to access them as a numbered list.

That sure does look odd. I believe our intent was too signal that you cannot have repeated exclusion reasons (i.e. we’ll display a red icon when the reason is duplicated with another one). However, I think our logic was incorret in that, the icon always starts out red (even when unedited!) We should be able to tune that up.

Could you expound on numbering reasons? To date, we haven’t numbered them because we think it’s more intuitive to present them in order of frequency of use, not by e.g. order of creation. Open to ideas though!

Gotcha, yeah it seems that the check mark is red even when I am actively editing, which is confusing a bit.

I think numbering could come secondary to frequency of use. So the number would change based on the frequency? If that is even possible. This nest is unique because of the high number of reasons, but if we could see that yes number 1, XXX, was used the most often, it would be beneficial when editing the exclusion reasons and seeing them in list format in the software.

^ yep agreed, we’re fixing that coloring issue which is quite confusing!

I’m not as convinced by the numbering scheme, especially if it will be changing numbers as frequency changes - isn’t it easier to just refer to the reasons by name at that point?

Sounds great!

I see what you mean. I only ran into this difficulty when editing multiple exclusion reasons at once and losing track of them a bit. I think most exclusion reasons are different enough that they are easy to keep track of and don’t have 19 different ones.

Fixed in release 1.47.1. Thanks again Kristen, for your attention to detail & reporting!
