Hover-text showing guidance or tooltips on navigation elements#506

It would be nice to show tooltips or guidance notes when hovering over navigation elements like buttons or tabs. For instance, if I were to click the Download button, it would be nice to have a prompt appear that would show the best practice like “Please select a filter first to customize the data you want to export” or something similar. Also, in general, it would be nice for brief alerts to appear upon hovering explaining what clicking on a certain button or element on the page can do.

Vishnu– Great suggestion! I particularly see ‘Download’ and ‘Bulk Action’ as complex tools that this could help with. We try to keep from overwhelming users with text instruction, but especially when there’s a function like ‘filter first, then download,’ hovertext instructions make sense to me.
